Honey since prehistoric times
In the caves of the Spider, in Bicorp (Valencia), there is a cave painting, unique in the world, that shows a person collecting honey from a honeycomb. The painting is supposed to be an age of about 8 000 years. This is a sign that honey has been part of the human diet since time immemorial, mainly as a sweetener, but also as a food in itself, and so we continue to use today.
Honey is a natural product made by bees. It is mainly composed of sugar, with a certain content of vitamins, amino acids, proteins other nutrients, which depend on the plant in which the bee was fed. However, there are other uses of honey that are not so well known, despite how beneficial they are.
